How many lumens do you need for office lighting?
Luminous flux value of office lighting fixtures need to be determined based on usage places and reqirement.Generally, office lighting standards are 500 lux per square meter,or higher over 45 footcandles. At commercial office open office areas, workers need 45 to 50 footcandles for working and reading.
Consider that a 60 watts light bulb produces about 800 lumens of brightness. If you have a 120 square foot (11 square meter) office, it would take 5 pieces evenly spaced 60 watts light bulbs (producing 4,000 lumens) to meet OSHA's minimum standards. If we replace the light bulb with our round shape linear light, 40 watts round led linear light total minimum luminous flux will up to 4000 lumens. One piece 40 watts round linear light lumens equal to 5 pieces 60 watts light bulb. 40 watts vs. 300 watts, greatly saving energy consumption.
According to this calculation, an office of 1076 square foot( about 100 square meters) only needs 9 pieces 40 watts circular ring linear light, the brightness can meet the usage standards.
In addition, according to the requirements for office lighting, our country stipulates that the illumination in general office areas must not be less than 300lux. The ratio of the minimum desktop illumination value to the average illumination value should not be less than 0.7, and the lighting brightness of the local working area should not be less than 500lux. The average illumination of non-working areas, that is, general spaces, should not be less than half of that of the working area, and the illumination of walkways should not be lower than 150 lux.
